Originally operating under the name of UMEA Engineering Consultants the corporate structure was changed and the name simplified in May 2013 to become UMEA Pty Ltd.
UMEA offers an extensive range of Electrical Building Services Engineering and installation expertise spanning the entire life cycle of a given building project ranging from, but not limited to, traditional design services, pre-purchase inspections, technical due diligence reporting, installation, fit outs and retrofits and design and construction contracts.
We aim to ensure that our guiding principles of quality service and client satisfaction are always achieved. We combined technical agility and smart sustainable design with practical expertise integrated to provide the best solution for your project.
We provide comprehensive electrical engineering services as part of a total building services package.
Our engineers and staff will provide your project with quality and timeliness to ensure that your expectations are exceeded. We cross big picture thinking with technical innovation and ingenuity to develop detailed solutions for a cross-section of applications – residential, educational, commercial, retail, transport, leisure, manufacturing and warehousing to successfully deliver a range of electrical engineering projects.
Carefully integrated design, highly efficient lighting, effective power distribution systems and the maximum use of natural, renewable sources of light and energy will significantly reduce the impact your project has on the environment.
We encourage team work on all our projects and are open and approachable at all times. We foster a close working relationship with all of our clients and provide quality design documentation.
We motivate and educate our clients and partners around their potential for a positive impact on the environment, designing solutions that create real and long lasting change.
We work collaboratively with the entire project team throughout all stages of the project, to deliver projects that achieve agreed financial, social and environmental objectives.
Our methodology is based on:
Creating good communications and cooperation between all the key stakeholders.
Challenging assumptions and preconceived ideas, encouraging lateral thinking.
Providing additional knowledge and experience during the early stages of the decision making process.
Developing an appropriate balance between best practice, local codes and construction technologies.
Integrating sustainable design processes and initiatives into the project within cost budgets.
Value engineering to avoid overdesign of services and systems.
UMEA has established quality assurance systems based upon the recommendations of AS/NZS 3905 part 12 Australian / New Zealand Standard Quality system guidelines for architectural and engineering design practices.
The implementation of the Standard addresses the requirements of AS/NZS ISO 9001 Quality systems, providing guidance to architectural and engineering design practices operating in the building and construction industries on the adoption of quality management systems within the practice as a method of assuring professional standards of performance, managing for quality improvement and satisfying contractual and certification requirements.
We encourage team work on all our projects and are open and approachable at all times. We foster a close working relationship with all of our clients and other stakeholders.
Our high quality documentation will ensure that the system is fully understood not only during initial installation but more importantly during the post-construction / occupation stages.
UMEA is committed to minimising the impact of its activities on the environment.
Our belief is that undertaking engineering design with consideration to the environment does not necessarily mean a higher economic cost to the client. Environmentally responsible design requires a change in the thought processes very early in the design concept stage, an understanding of the ‘environmentally friendly’ products and processes in the market place and a refocusing of the basis on which choices and decisions are made.
We aim to meet and where possible exceed the necessary environmental legislation that relates to any given project.
We strive to give our clients the appropriate knowledge to make a difference, challenging ourselves to design so that it neither economically penalises our clients nor limits the prospects of future generations.
We are committed to operating as a sustainable business.
